Calendar of Kainos
The year in Kainos is 350 days long, divided into ten months of exactly five weeks each. Every week has seven days, named as you’d expect: Sunday through Saturday. Because every month is exactly 35 days, every month begins on a Sunday and ends on a Saturday. There are no leap years, no short months, and no days that fall outside the calendar.
The Seasons & Months
The year begins in Spring, which means the first day of the year (New Year’s Day) is day 1 of the year. Spring and Autumn are 3 months long, while Summer and Winter are only 2 months.
- Arche, Spring: first month of the year. Temperatures are rising and areas are thawing.
- Thallo, Spring: plants are in full blossom if not already. Temperatures are mild and warming.
- Aux, Spring: the stormy month, weather is fairly inclement.
- Eros, Summer: the first month of summer. Temperatures rise sharply and heat waves begin.
- Logos, Summer: the second and final month of summer. Heat waves abound and weather is inclement.
- Arete, Autumn: the first month of fall/autumn. Temperatures mellow out, festivals are common.
- Krisis, Autumn: leaves begin to change color and fall. The first frost occurs.
- Nous, Autumn: most plants have transitioned, faded. Temperatures drop. Weather is inclement again, blistery.
- Ataraxia, Winter: Temperatures drop significantly. Snow falls in many places.
- Telos, Winter: Blizzards are common in some places. Becomes more mild toward the end.
Each season begins on the first day of its first month, so the turn of a season always falls on a Sunday.
