Echoridge

Description

A set of stone spires rising from a mountainous island, each tower belonging to one of the great houses of the Echoridge Knights. The lower slopes are shrouded in perpetual shadow while the peaks gleam in open sky — towers and keeps built into the rock itself, connected by bridges and carved stairways that wind between the spires. An abyss of darkness pools at its roots. Echoridge is only accessible by flight, making it one of the most isolated and defensible places in the region.

The Dragon Riders

Echoridge is the seat of the Echoridge Knights — an order of dragon riders renowned across the fragments as elite mercenaries, guardians, and occasionally conquerors. The nation’s culture, economy, and identity are built entirely around dragon-riding. The Knights are organized into great houses, each occupying one of the island’s spires.

What’s Known

Echoridge is its own nation and continent, albeit small. It was founded after the Fracturing, when Lazziar Venfiel — known as the Umbraslayer — slew a great wyrm that rose from the shadowlands and built a civilization in the mountains above.

Lazziar is the only monarch Echoridge has ever known. The nation’s capital is Capstone, though the island itself is simply called Echoridge by most.

The Echoridge Knights can be hired by anyone who can reach the Perch — but getting there requires flight, and their services don’t come cheap.
