Tethermoor

Tethermoor

Description

Two cliff faces lean toward each other across a dizzying gap, close enough to shout across but too far to jump. Between them hangs a web of rope bridges, chain ferries, and cargo lines — all anchored to a single arch of smooth grey stone that spans the void without support or seam. The air smells of rope tar, cook smoke, and open sky. Wind is constant. Everything creaks.

The Span

An ancient stone arch connecting the two cliffs, predating the village by unknown centuries. No one knows who built it. Serves as the village’s main crossing, meeting point, and informal courthouse — disputes are settled at the center, where neither bank has claim.

What’s Known

Tethermoor began as a waypoint — travelers crossing the Span needed a place to rest on either side. Over generations it grew into a small trade hub. The Span itself is far older than any settlement. The two landmasses have been drifting apart for as long as anyone has kept records.

The village sits on the eastern tip of Deros, straddling the gap between Deros and the continent of Lythol. Technically the village spans two continents and two countries — Restrend on the Deros side and Hoida on the Lythol side — but it is considered part of Deros and Restrend by everyone who lives there.

To the south, Agathon and other settlements dot the interior. Rumors of The Arkanis taking over settlements in the region have reached some travelers, but Tethermoor itself seems untouched — for now.
