Deros

Deros is the continent-fragment the campaign takes place on — one of many landmasses drifting in the fractured world of Kainos. Like all fragments, it was once part of a whole, broken apart during the Fracturing and held in tenuous stability by forces no one fully understands.

Geography

Deros is vast — comparable in scale to any of the great continents, with over a hundred settlements ranging from frontier villages to sprawling city-states.

Nations

Deros is divided into several nations, each with its own governance, culture, and history. Among them:

  • Restrend — The second-largest nation on the continent, and home to the largest city on the continent, Astran.
  • Kamber — TBD Culture.
  • Palago — A mixed-culture nation with forests along its southern tip.
  • Galinvan - An elvish nation, generally open and welcoming.
  • Svendale - A deeply insular elvish nation, xenophobic, mostly forest.
  • Bru’kal - A diverse nation home to many non-human species.

(Other nations TBD)

What People Know

Residents of Deros know their continent by name and understand readily that other continents and nations exist beyond the fragments. Travel between fragments is not dangerous, but it is somewhat more expensive than overland travel — requiring airfare of some kind or access to teleportation circles.

The Arkaniss conquest is well understood by Deros’s nations & states. In fact, they are beginning to realize just how badly they underestimated the threat. The south-eastern villages and towns have fallen openly, and the pattern — conquering from the outside in, cutting supply lines, isolating cities — is clear to anyone paying attention. The city-states are moving, unfortunately at glacial speed, to form a resistance against the Arkanis. Whether they will act quickly enough remains to be seen.
